Manuel Amalilio, founder and owner of Aman Futures Group Philippines Inc. who duped thousands of Filipinos in a P12 billion investment scam, has been arrested in Malaysia.
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima earlier said Malaysian authorities arrested Amalilio in Kota Kinabalu for carrying a fake passport and ID, according to anABS-CBN News report.
The Philippine government is currently working for his extradition. The victims, who are mostly from Pagadian City, are reportedly waiting for Amalilio to arrive.
Amalilio, whose real name is Mohammad Suffian Saaid, is facing charges for syndicated estafa, a non-bailable offense.
