Janice backs Gerald, praises his professionalism

MANILA, Philippines – Actress and television host Janice de Belen came to the defense of actor Gerald Anderson, who is currently embroiled in a controversy.
Actress-host Janice de Belen lauds actor Gerald Anderson's professionalism
In an interview with ABS-CBN News during the premiere night of “Chinese Zodiac” on Tuesday night, de Belen said she personally knows Anderson as a professional actor and she doesn’t think he is anything but that.
“Nakasama ko si Gerald. As far as I’m concerned, kung paano kami nung nag-work kami, si Gerald is very professional,” she said.
De Belen worked with Anderson on the hit series "Budoy."
While she admitted that they haven’t talked or seen each other for a while, de Belen said she is happy for Anderson's continued success.
“I’m always happy for him because apart from him being very close to me, I do believe he has the talent to really make it good in this business,” she said.
“Deserve niya kung ano ang dumadating sa buhay niya. Mabait si Gerald. Kahit ano pa ang sabihin ng iba, he’s really a good guy,” the actress added.
Last week, it was reported that veteran actress Maricel Soriano was removed from the upcoming drama series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" following her alleged outburst while she and Anderson were doing a scene.
Rumors which circulated online said Soriano blew her top over Anderson.
Soriano's management and that of ABS-CBN's -- which produces the TV series -- have since decided to exclude the Diamond Star from the cast.
Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent management arm, however, backed Anderson's "unassailable personal character and professional behavior," following the alleged incident.
Dawn Zulueta will replace Soriano in the series.

Future Pinoy scientists, a Museum of Natural History

Michael Purugganan, when he was an elementary student at Union Science Elementary School in Malate, used to sneak into the National Science Development Board premises, where he would spend hours in a small museum.  "It just fascinated me. I just wanted to learn more about these things and what these people were doing there," Purruganan told GMA News Online.  "That was really what inspired me to become a scientist," said Purugganan, who is currently the Dean for Science at New York University and a world leader in evolutionary and ecological genomics.   With a new museum in the works, more young Filipinos may be inspired to become scientists. In a couple of years, the Philippines will have its own world class Museum of Natural History, showcasing endemic plants and animals that can be found in the country, according to a report on State of the Nation on January 23. Museums bridge the past and present, but the government believes these can also meet...
