Marquez postpones his Boxing retirement

‘Pacquiao-Marquez V possible in Macau'

MANILA – Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez has decided to put off his retirement after he was able to convince his wife to allow him a few more fights before finally calling it quits.
His Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran said Marquez has confirmed that he will fight again following his big win over Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao last December.
“He already spoke with his wife and children, with his family, and they support him in continuing [his career]," Beltran said in Boxing Scene.
Marquez's wife, Erika, had said she no longer wants her husband to fight especially after seeing how Pacquiao lost last December.
Pacquiao walked straight to Marquez's counter right hand and was knocked out cold in the sixth round of their fourth encounter.
“I was very [upset] when I saw Pacquiao's wife crying, desperate to climb into the ring. She feared the worst. I saw what she felt and I reflected, and understood her suffering. I felt her anguish when I saw that Pacquiao did not move and did not get up," she had said in a post-fight interview.

But Beltran said Marquez was able to change his wife's mind.
He said Marquez even gave him a marching order to review fight offers.
With regards to the possible fifth clash with Pacquiao, Beltran said the fight could be staged in Macau given the high taxes in the US.
He earlier mentioned that it may take place around September.
"The two fighters do not want to pay so many taxes, and yes, there is the possibility that it will happen in Macau, which is something that [Top Rank CEO] Bob [Arum] likes,” said Beltran.
“[Arum] will do a show [in Macau] in April and he will see what we can do there and what kind of purses [we can get for the fighters] and other aspects. But there is also the new arena in Mexico City."

Future Pinoy scientists, a Museum of Natural History

Michael Purugganan, when he was an elementary student at Union Science Elementary School in Malate, used to sneak into the National Science Development Board premises, where he would spend hours in a small museum.  "It just fascinated me. I just wanted to learn more about these things and what these people were doing there," Purruganan told GMA News Online.  "That was really what inspired me to become a scientist," said Purugganan, who is currently the Dean for Science at New York University and a world leader in evolutionary and ecological genomics.   With a new museum in the works, more young Filipinos may be inspired to become scientists. In a couple of years, the Philippines will have its own world class Museum of Natural History, showcasing endemic plants and animals that can be found in the country, according to a report on State of the Nation on January 23. Museums bridge the past and present, but the government believes these can also meet...
