‘Talentadong Pinoy’ and ‘Dancing Nation’ Join Forces in 2 Nights of Pinoy Talent and Bayanihan Spirit

This weekend, TV5’s premiere talent show Talentadong Pinoy joins forces with the world’s biggest reality dancing competition for “Dancing Nation: A Talentadong Pinoy Special Edition.” Seven towns across the Philippines will showcase their talent and bayanihan spirit as they compete for a chance to win Php 1 million for a specific cause.
The two-part episode, which kicks off on Saturday (February 2) introduces the seven towns competing for Dancing Nation, namely Alaminos (Pangasinan), Calauag (Quezon), Jose Panganiban (Camarines Norte), Tupi (South Cotabato), Laua-an (Antique), Rodriguez (Rizal), and Infanta (Quezon).
In the spirit of kapatiran and bayanihan, each town gathered its citizens and prepared unique dance presentations in the hopes of winning the coveted prize, which will directly benefit their specific causes.
The task of gathering as many as 300 participants for this one-of-a-kind competition seemed like an impossible feat but these townspeople endured countless hours rehearsing to make sure each move is perfect—taking them a step closer to helping their respective communities.
Viewers at home can also contribute to these towns’ causes by supporting their favorites via SMS voting which will be activated by host Ryan Agoncillio during the show. The program will also set up a special Dancing Nation help hotline which viewers can call if they wish to give donations to help any of the causes presented by the participating towns. The grand winner will be announced at the end of the program’s Sunday episode (February 3).
Joining Ryan are Celebrity Talent Scouts Ruffa Gutierrez, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Tuesday Vargas, Arnell Ignacio, Joey Reyes, Ruby Rodriguez, Joel Lamangan, Aga Muhlach, and Alice Dixson. Powerdance’s Douglas Nierras, Sex Bomb’s Joy Cancio, Philippine All Stars’Lema Diaz and Speed’s Egay Bautista also assisted in the show as Dance Consultants, giving tips and advice to the participating towns to help improve their overall performance.
Don’t miss this exceptional two-part episode that will surely tug at your heartstrings. “Dancing Nation: A Talentadong Pinoy Special Edition” airs this weekend February 2, 9:00PM and February 3, 7:30PM only on TV5.

Future Pinoy scientists, a Museum of Natural History

Michael Purugganan, when he was an elementary student at Union Science Elementary School in Malate, used to sneak into the National Science Development Board premises, where he would spend hours in a small museum.  "It just fascinated me. I just wanted to learn more about these things and what these people were doing there," Purruganan told GMA News Online.  "That was really what inspired me to become a scientist," said Purugganan, who is currently the Dean for Science at New York University and a world leader in evolutionary and ecological genomics.   With a new museum in the works, more young Filipinos may be inspired to become scientists. In a couple of years, the Philippines will have its own world class Museum of Natural History, showcasing endemic plants and animals that can be found in the country, according to a report on State of the Nation on January 23. Museums bridge the past and present, but the government believes these can also meet...
